Jobu’s Rum’s Greatest Hits: Should We Care About Lance Armstrong?

Should_We_Care_About_Lance_Armstrong_Lance_570x300

While Jobu is on vacation, enjoy one of our greatest hits as Jobu reacts to the whole Lance Armstrong thing.

I’ve been meaning to weigh on this issue since the news came out, but I haven’t had the time because we were gearing up for Big League Clu’s College Football Week, but I find myself with some extra time now, so here we go: In case you missed it (if you did, you might be dead), Lance Armstrong decided to stop his fight against the allegations that he doped it up for basically his entire career. The USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) took this as an admission of guilt and recommended that the UCI (International Cycling Union) strip him of his seven Tour de France titles and everything else he’s ever won ever (if they could have, they would have stripped him of his win against cancer). So, is Lance guilty? Is he a victim of a witch hunt? Should you give a crap? The answer to all of these questions is… well… kinda! Continue reading →

What’s Next for Lance Armstrong?

Jobu reacts to the Lance Armstrong’s confession.

In what has to be one of the least shocking revelations in the history of sports, Lance Armstrong has come clean about using performance enhancing drugs in his career as the best cyclist in the history of the sport (We covered the scandal a bit in August). The fact that everybody and their mother knows he did it might make this shocking, but I was surprised at how disappointed I still was by the revelation. The curtain has been pulled back to reveal one of the biggest cheaters in sports history, and I kind of still don’t think we should really care. Continue reading →

Running On Empty: Bloomberg Drops the Ball on the Marathon

Should the New York City Marathon go on? Jobu weighs in.

First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers go out to those still dealing with the fallout from Sandy. We were without power for the last few days, but that pales in comparison to what even some of our friends near by are experiencing, let alone people from New Jersey, Lower Manhattan and Queens are going through. To be honest I never thought things would get as bad as they did. Everyone should help out however they can, whether it be by donating money or helping out a friend in need.

My post today isn’t about those hurt most by the tragedy though. My post is about the fact that, despite all the destruction in all five boroughs and the entire Tri-State area, Mayor Bloomberg still thinks its a good idea to run the New York Marathon. Not only is it probably dangerous (all those people gathered together, running through areas that are still in recovery), it seems to me to be completely insensitive and a little insulting. LORENZO AND YAMAHA REIGN IN SPAIN

Yamaha Factory Racing's Spanish Jorge Lo

Papa Wheelie Reviews Jorge Lorenzo’s big win at the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix. It’s a little belated, but you can blame Jobu for that.

With only a slim lead in the championship heading to the Spanish circuit of Cataluñya, Jorge Lorenzo started the weekend looking to pull out a bigger advantage over Casey Stoner and the rest of his championship rivals. Stoner, as always, looked very, very quick right out of the box but Honda has been struggling with more and more chatter problems in the last few races. Cataluñya is notoriously difficult on tires, and usually is blistering hot during race weekends. This weekend was no exception, but as has followed suit with F1; Race weekends have had a few other surprises in every session.
